Probably not really necessary but the item is cheap enough and it's nice to know there is a little bit more protection for the engine. Minimal deposits on magnet when I do oil change, but the bike only has 35,000 Km so to be expected. Remember to follow their instructions and grease or Coppercoat the thread when reinstalling to preserve the soft alloy thread. It's best to use a new flat Alloy washer, rather than copper, as it seals better. However I have kept using the original washer that was one the bike and haven't even annealed it and it does not leak. Bolt is only aluminium alloy so treat with respect and it will do fine for years.

It's now tucked inside my aftermarket skid plate and I have the magnet to confine and flag anything floating around inside the crankcase.I love the pre-drilled head for safety wire. Instructions easy to sort out even though only in Japanese. Some installation advice: 1) I placed the large rubber washers between the bracket and the plastic guard itself. 2) Honda NC mirror stalks are hard to understand! The simplest method is to completely remove the mirror by undoing the top nut and spinning off the mirror - this is LEFT HAND THREAD - so turn your 14mm open-end spanner as if tightening a normal nut. Once the is mirror safely on the bench unbolt the remaining right hand thread bolt from the bar with a ring spanner. Fit the bracket and replace the RHT bolt; tighten. Fit mirror with LHT bolt; tighten while adjusting for view. Much easier this way!Item is good quality (although I might have expected the mounts to be of lighter material eg. aluminium, titanium) and they fit well. Seem to do adequate job of protecting my hands and the looks fit the sporty 700S model well (better than big black buckets).I think I made a good purchase.View Detail
I have a NC700S and bought this factory stand because it was a good price. The instructions are written only in Japanese but it is easy to follow the pictures and muddle through. Remove the 2 bolts holding the silencer and back of the downpipe so your ratchet can fit. Attach the two springs at each end, as the instructions show, and then ease the greased central pin in - do not fit the stand and then try to fight with the springs to get them to fit! You can fit this stand this way by yourself without hammering. Once fitted the stand is beautiful to use - probably the easiest Centre stand I have ever had the joy to use. Extremely light, you would think you are hoisting a 125! Cannot recommend this product more highly - but it may not fit non-Japanese market X models. Be careful.View Detail
